I like to apply analogical reasoning, You can call it conceptual metaphors. And if both of those are confusing, how about applying the concept of one domain to another. Still confused?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For example, we talked about liminal spaces which don’t look or sound right. But you can then take that into the emotional<\/em> domain and talk about things like a bride on the night before her wedding, or how it feels to be in a doctor’s office waiting room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n When you receive a physical injury, you:<\/p>\n\n\n\n We do the same for emotional injuries. We figure out what caused it, why it hurt so badly, and then we build it up by toughening up our metaphorical skin, or addressing the thing that causes it to hurt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But what about intellectual injury?
